How many college football teams are there?
There are about 893 football colleges in five different division levels: NCAA Division I an IAA, Division II, Division III, NAIA, and NJCAA. We provided which states have the most college football teams, a: Ohio (41), Texas (37), New York (31), North Carolina (31), Massachusetts (29), Illinois (28), Minnesota (25), Virginia (24), Pennsylvania (52) and California (22).
Is FCS versus FBS?
Division 1 football colleges are split into one of two subdivisions: The Football Bowl Subdivision Division 1-A and the Football Championship Subdivision Division 1-AA.

Division, I FBS football is considered the most academically and athletically competitive division in college football. The two subdivisions have some similarities. Div 1 and D1AA compete against each other teams from those divisions.
Student-athletes are allowed to transfer from one division to the other division without incurring the one-year loss of eligibility punishment. But, there are four other main differences to note:
- FBS teams can give a maximum of 85 scholarships, while FCS football colleges are permitted to offer a max of 63 scholarships. Furthermore, FBS can only give out full-ride awards. FCS teams can offer a variety of different options and split up their scholarship dollars; however, they desire.
- The FBS regular season is longer plus the conference championship weekends; in comparison to the 11-game regular season for FCS, the commitment is slightly less.
- After the season play, FBS teams compete in bowl games. Versus the FCS college football teams’ postseason is a 24-team playoff, in which eight college teams get one week off into an NCAA college basketball tournament of the last sixteen teams.

College Football Division Graduation Rates
Division, I student-athletes graduate at record high rates
Nearly nine out of every 10 Division I college sports athletes earn degrees.
The single-year rate for student-athletes who entered college in 2012 increased one percentage point to 89%, the highest ever.
An increase in the Football Bowl Subdivision GSR to an all-time high 82%, up from 79%, helped increase the overall percentage rate. Black FBS student-athletes increased their GSR by three percentage points to 78%. This is a nice improvement.
NCAA reports Football Championship Subdivision teams to have a 78% and NCAA women’s basketball teams have a 91%. They have stayed consistent at this level. Both held steady at their all-time high rates.
In men’s basketball, the overall graduation rate dropped by 2 percent to 83%.
Black student-athletes in men’s basketball had a 79% graduation success rate.
The graduation rate could be impacted by the number of basketball players seeking professional opportunities.”

In an independent study by the Cappex,. It showed that the four-year graduation rate for regular students attending public colleges and universities is 33.3%. The six-year college attendance rate is 57.6%.
At private college institutions and universities, the four-year graduation percentage is 52.8%, and 65.4% earn a degree in six years of college attendance.
So the conclusion is that athletes graduate at or above regular students, more specifically negro athletes who often are perceived as not real student-athletes or lacking discipline graduates at or above their student peers.
