Select Player
There is what you call a “Select Contract” worth $125,000; this is for elite quality players that are 18 years old or above. The pay is for five months. This is a base contract that does not include your call up compensation. This new Select Contract is for players that choose not to attend college and select the G League as an alternative.
Two Way Player
The NBA Two Way Player with Select status can now earn a base of $125,000 + a pro-rated portion of the NBA Minim salary, which in 2019 was $582,000. So if you take 100 max days to get your $582,000 minimum salary, you get 5820 per day.
45 Days * $5820 = $261,900 Max NBA payday
$261,900 + $125,000 = $386,900
Assignment player
A player with three or more years experience that is on an NBA roster and is sent to the G League affiliate team for rehab, create a roster spot, playtime, development, and or discipline. The NBA organizations are the contract holder of the player but have the ability to move the player up or down depending on the needs of the organization. An NBA assignment player earns his NBA salary.
Draft Rights Player
NBA G League organization can draft players that are 18 years or older, who enter the G League Draft and have yet to enter the NBA Draft.
Players can join the G League, but if they are drafted, that cannot be called up tot he NBA during the season.
The Draft Rights player makes the least at an estimated $35,000 per season or $7000 per month.
Affiliate Player
When NBA Training camps end in October, all NAtinal BAsketball Association organizations can identify up to four basketball players to their NBA G League affiliate basketball team. These affiliate basketball players can be called up to the big stage NBA team once they are in the G League. G League affiliate basketball players can make a max of $50000 via NBA training camp partial guarantees.
In Season Affiliate Player
An in season, an affiliate player is slightly different than an “affiliate player.”
AN in season affiliate player is one who the NBA team waives after the NBA season is in progress. When the NBA organization waives the player, they can then classify or allocated the player with their G League affiliate as “in season affiliate player.”
NBA teams must now have the maximum of four affiliate players at the start of the season. This designation is only for players that were a participant of training camp before the current season.
